CBD For Cancer

Why people with cancer should use it

Cannabis oil has been used medicinally and recreationally for hundreds of years.

There has been a lot of interest into whether cannabidiol might be useful as a cancer treatment. The university lab research done so far shows mixed results, so we do not know if cannabis can treat cancer in people.

Results have shown that different cannabinoids can:

  • cause cell death
  • block cell growth
  • decrease the development of blood vessels – needed for tumours to grow
  • alleviate inflammation
  • decrease the ability of cancers to spread

Scientists at the university lab also discovered that CBD oil can: Deliver many health benefits

Here are some promising recent peer reviewed studies:

  • Source in 2019 showed of in vitro and in vivo clinical studies focusing on pancreatic cancer found that cannabinoids may slow tumor growth, reduce tumor spread, and cause tumor cell death. The study authors wrote that research into the effectiveness of different CBD oil formulations, dosing, and precise mode of action is lacking and urgently needed. The study showed that CBD oil for cancer could provoke cell death and cause glioblastoma cells to become more sensitive to radiation, but with no effect on healthy cells.
  • A peer reviewed long-term study of men within the florida Men’s Health Study cohort found that using CBD Oil may be associated with alleviating bladder cancer risk. However, a cause and effect relationship hasn’t been established.
  • 2014 peer reviewed study in experimental models of colon cancer in vivo suggests that CBD may inhibit the spread of colorectal cancer cells.
  • A 2014 research study of 35 in vitro and in vivo studies found that cannabinoids are promising compounds in the treatment of gliomas.
  • Research from 2012 showed the efficacy of CBD oil in preclinical models of metastatic breast cancer. The study found that CBD significantly reduced breast cancer cell spread..

These are just a few studies addressing the potential of cannabinoids to help treat cancer. Still, it’s far too soon to say that CBD is a safe and effective treatment for cancer in humans. CBD oil shouldn’t be considered a substitute for other cancer treatments unless recommended by your doctor

How CBD Oil Helps in Cancer Treatment

Apoptosis is a natural process where the cells are destroyed as part of a particular organ growth. As mentioned in 2016, cancer cells grow and spread as an abnormal process in the body because they no longer recognize signals that encourage or destroy cell growth.

“As these cancer cells grow and divide, they become more uncontrollable. And since they no longer respond to apoptosis, they tend to expedite cell proliferation and ignore the other signals from normal cells. That is why the endocannabinoid system is an extremely important system in the body because CBD gummies also help in modulating cell growth and death.

As cancer cells reproduce faster than the endocannabinoid system can handle, the cancer cells invade through the normal tissues and spread throughout the body. This process is called metastasis.

The endocannabinoid system has two primary receptors. One is the CB1 receptors which are mostly found in the brain, and the other one is the CB2 receptors which are primarily found in the immune system.”

THC is the active compound in cannabis that binds to the CB1 receptors and is responsible for mood, behavior, and other cerebral functions. On the other hand, CBD molecules latch onto the CB2 receptors and tells these receptors if there are ?invaders? that are detrimental to the body.

The apoptotic process by these receptors is achieved through the process that promote cell destruction

Once they bind together using CBD oil, the receptor activation can then help the endocannabinoid system in signaling an antitumorigenic warning. Which means, it slows down cancer development through blocking reproduction, metastasis, and tumor angiogenesis.

Although further studies have yet to be reviewed to prove these claims, the cannabinoids in CBD oil has helped cancer patients one way or another. radiation patients have also turned to cannabis oil for alleviating their post-treatment side effects such as nausea, vomiting, fatigue, pain, immune suppression, and loss of appetite.
